As part of MacEwan University’s Black History Month celebrations, the Office of Human Rights, Diversity, and Equity, in partnership with the National Black Coalition of Canada-Edmonton, presents Racism, Black History & the Future of Black Education in Alberta by Andrew Parker. What is it like to be a Black student in Alberta? What is it like to be a Black teacher in Alberta? Or Black Parents with children in the education system? Andrew Parker B.Ed, BA, M.Ed (2024), community ambassador and co-founder of the Black Teachers Association, will explain the challenges of Anti-Black racism, systemic racism, and also the opportunities for the implementation of Black history and other systemic changes necessary in education today.
