Dr. Johnson is a family physician who runs his own practice in Smoky Lake Alberta. Prior to moving to Alberta in 2010, he worked with the United States Peace Corps in Lesotho.

Dr. Johnson is currently the Community Medical Director for Smoky Lake County under Alberta Health Services. He also serves as a member of the Primary Care Network (PCN) committee. He is tasked with providing governance, leadership, strategic direction and priorities for the PCN’s. Residents have been quoted as saying, “The community not only hired a community doctor, they hired a community ambassador.”

Dr. Johnson also works as a full time Pastor. He opened his own parish in 2017 called the Place of Rest, which is located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

His family is based in Edmonton and he travels between Smoky Lake, Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan on a weekly basis.
Dr. Johnson is currently pursuing another masters Degree at The University of Alberta. He is the national Advisor for YASM Canada, whose mandate is the elevation and empowerment of young adults.

What is truly impressive about Dr. Johnson is how he juggles professions, while still adhering to his husbandly and fatherly duties. Dr. Johnson has played a foundational role in empowering young black adults to speak with those he has impacted directly.
